Former Man City striker pinpoints player who must 'step up' for Arsenal Premier League clash

Former Manchester City striker Niall Quinn has given his verdict on the club’s upcoming clash with Arsenal.

The two clubs battled for the league title last season with Pep Guardiola’s side hitting the front late in the season before cruising to the Premier League crown. Having started this season off in superb fashion, City suffered back-to-back defeats last week but then responded with a 3-1 victory over RB Leipzig.

The Gunners head into the clash on Sunday a point behind City in the table. Arsenal have also suffered some early wobbles, despite remaining unbeaten in the league, but could prove that they are ready for another title challenge with a statement victory over City.

Quinn played for both City and Arsenal, beginning his senior career with the Gunners before spending six years with City. The forward is intrigued to see how Guardiola’s side will line up in north London as Rodri continues to serve his suspension following his red card against Nottingham Forest.

"They've had their own issues. Everything was going so well, they were winning every game and then Rodri got himself sent off,” Quinn told LiveScore Bet. “Some said that Pep Guardiola overreacted when that happened but I think he knew the importance of Rodri in these games coming up.
