Forgotten Ange signing, midfield misfit and stagnating academy kid - 5 Celtic stars who could leave after transfer deadline

The transfer window has come and gone but there are still a number of Celtic stars whose futures are yet to be resolved.

Brendan Rodgers trimmed things down over the summer and a hectic deadline day has left him with a balanced squad with two options for every position. Alex Valle finally gives him the Greg Taylor plan B he'd sought, while Arne Engels provides a direct replacement for Matt O'Riley and Luke McCowan offers a homegrown spark in midfield.

The last-minute rush though did lead to a number of players being pushed down the pecking order, with minimal time to arrange routes out of the club before the windows closed in the UK and the big leagues in Europe. One of those being Maik Nawrocki, who now appears entirely surplus to requirements after Auston Trusty's late arrival from Sheffield United.

The Polish defender hasn't been in a squad this season and now appears to be fifth choice, behind Cameron Carter-Vickers, Liam Scales, Stephen Welsh and now Trusty. Arranging an exit at this stage may be tricky but a number of windows in Europe and beyond still have some wiggle room. One of those with some life left is Nawrocki's native Poland, where clubs can sign players up until Friday September 6.

Liam Shaw is another Celtic are likely to be open to moving on if they can with any chance of a Parkhead revival looking decidedly unlikely for the midfielder. He spent last season on loan at Wigan and, with just a year to run on his contract, seems likely to be allowed to leave for free if he can find a new club.
