Mateusz Bogusz addresses 'possible' Celtic transfer and fills in the blanks over LAFC exit plan

Sheepish Mateusz Bogusz has lifted the lid on the prospect of a move to Celtic after his Los Angeles FC exit collapsed late in the window.

The 23-year-old was at the centre of transfer talks between the Scottish Premiership champions and the Major League Soccer side - but the Hoops failed to get a deal over the line in time for the Poland cap as they brought in Arne Engles and Luke McCowan instead on deadline day. Following his first international appearance in the Pole's Nations League clash with Croatia, his dad Piotr admitted that he expected a return to Europe for the former Leeds United man to happen sooner rather than later.

But the forward has played his cards close to his chest over the prospect of a move to Glasgow's east end - insisting that his focus remains on the American side - until the end of the campaign at least. However, that could put Brendan Rodgers' side on alert for a January approach following the end of the MLS campaign.

Asked about interest from Celtic before LAFC's clash with LA Galaxy, Bogusz said: "Of course I knew about that. I just try to not get involved in this situation, I was focussed on playing for LAFC. There was possible movement for me, but at the end of the day I stayed here and I am very happy. I am looking to finish the season in first place (in the Western Conference) and get to the final, and win the final. That is all I can say about this situation."
