Supermodel Kate Moss appeared to have been in Manchester today ahead of tonight’s Chanel show - but it soon turned out it was, in fact, too good to be true.

Chanel will take over the Northern Quarter’s Thomas Street this evening as part of their exclusive Métiers d’Art show. More than 600 people are expected to attend the event with a number of Hollywood celebrities and well-known models rumoured to be on the guest list.

Twilight actress Kristen Stewart, Doctor Who star Jenna Coleman are some of the first celebrities who have been spotted in the city having attended the Chanel pre-event party at Salford Lads Club on Wednesday night (December 7). Kristen was also spotted at the Stock Exchange Hotel earlier in the day.

Supermodel Kate Moss appeared to have been pictured at the Just Between Friends coffee shop on Tib Street with an Aldi shopping bag, following a reported trip to the supermarket in Ancoats. Captioned alongside the photo, one person wrote: "OMG Mossy in Manchester."

Anne Ryan was one of the customers in the Aldi store at the time of their arrival. Speaking to the M.E.N, Anne said: "I did wonder why someone was wearing shades on a wintry day. I assumed she was with the Chanel show but I definitely did not expect her in Aldi."

Asked what she was doing in the store, Anne said of Kate: "I did not look in her basket but I am sure it was healthy. Her minder was very polite and she had a chat at the check-out. There was a group of photographers outside and a couple of girls filming on their phones. She did seem a bit over-dressed for a trip to the supermarket! I was just surprised at how tiny she was, even with heels."
