Five things Leicester City must do over final four fixtures to finish in top 10 and improve mood

Leicester City cannot finish in the European places, and they are extremely unlikely to be relegated. Clubs that find themselves in this position are said to "have nothing to play for".

But, of course, there is. City are currently 14th in the table but a place in the top half is up for grabs. The mood going into the summer and coming back for pre-season could be a lot different depending on how they finish this campaign.

City still have Norwich, Watford, Chelsea, and Southampton to play over the next fortnight, so there are 12 points up for grabs. Here are five things City and manager Brendan Rodgers can do over those fixtures to hopefully pick up as many as possible.

Described by Rodgers as City’s “best player” after he missed the Everton defeat with a hamstring issue, it makes sense to put Maddison in his best position. He has been City’s most prolific attacking player this season, but as Rodgers has configured his midfield to make the team more solid and to try to make their press more consistent, he has been pushed wide.

While he drifts in, Maddison is far from his most effective when he is placed on the right-hand side. During a period when City are struggling to break down the opposition, they need their number 10 at the heart of the play, finding space in the pockets to affect the game.

It was a surprise when Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall started the Everton defeat match as a left-sided wing-back. That’s especially when City had Luke Thomas as an option.

Rodgers explained his thinking, that he wanted to experiment with Dewsbury-Hall out there as a more attacking option, allowing him to introduce a more forward-thinking option into a central area in Ayoze Perez. It was an experiment that ended at half-time.
