Firefighters receiving 'high volume' of 999 calls over flooding across Greater Manchester
Fire crews are experiencing a 'high volume' of 999 calls amid flooding in Greater Manchester tonight.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) have warned people to 'only call 999 in an emergency' in a post on X tonight.
It comes as a heavy deluge of rain has battered Greater Manchester, with 'act now' flood warnings issued in parts of Tameside, Bolton, and Bury. Residents are advised to track water levels in their area on the government website.
There is also an amber weather warning for rain in place covering parts of Bolton, Bury, and Wigan. The rest of Greater Manchester remains under a yellow weather warning for rain.
In a post on X, GMFRS wrote: "North West Fire Control are experiencing a high number of 999 calls regarding flooding across Greater Manchester.
"Only call 999 in an emergency. For non-emergency flooding calls, contact Floodline or your local authority."
