Fire breaks out in city centre with people forced to evacuate

Students have been forced to evacuate their accommodation after a blaze broke out at an apartment building in Manchester city centre.

Fire crews raced to Vita Circle Square on Nobel Way at around 8:45am on Sunday (March 3) to reports of a kitchen fire in a fifth floor flat. It is understood that no injuries were reported.

Firefighters worked to extinguish the flames and make the scene safe using jet and positive pressure ventilation fan, according to Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service.
