Ferreira to Celtic transfer intrigue as Brendan Rodgers has direct line to superstar inside Gremio dressing room

Wanted Gremio winger Ferreira appears keen on a transfer to Celtic with the Premiership champions reigniting their interest in the 25-year-old.

The Premiership champions are understood to be long-time admirers of the attacker who can play in multiple roles across the front three. Football Scotland states Ferreira was on the Parkhead transfer radar before the arrival of Ange Postecoglou and interest has heightened in recent days. And Brendan Rodgers won't be short on information as one of his most famous ever pupils currently shares a dressing room with him. Liverpool and Barcelona icon Luis Suarez still raves about his former boss and he now stars beside the wide man in Gremio's starting XI.

Suarez has extolled the virtues of the Irishman in his development towards world superstardom and will likely be able to give Rodgers the inside track on a player who has attracted interest from Europe in the past three windows. Ferreira – who primarily operates on the left – could be handed the chance to replace £25m man Jota if Celtic make a concrete offer for his services.

The links comes weeks after Suarez waxed lyrical over both Rodgers and Celtic after the manager returned to his former home. Speaking exclusively to Record Sport, the 37-year-old said last month: “Celtic already have some very good players – but under Brendan they can go to the next level if they listen to him. For me he is one of the best coaches in Europe and it is no surprise to me that he has got back into the game so quickly.

“He loves the game – he is passionate about not only winning but playing an attractive style of football. I am glad that he will be back coaching in the Champions League – because that for me is where he belongs.”
