Faversham Town boss Tommy Warrilow looks forward to massive Isthmian South East derby against Sittingbourne after back-to-back scheduled away games fall victim to weather

Tommy Warrilow is hopeful Faversham’s big derby against Sittingbourne will attract a bumper crowd.

Town return to Isthmian South East action after a two-week break this Saturday, having seen back-to-back scheduled away fixtures fall victim to the weather.

Faversham boss Warrilow concedes he knew little of the magnitude of the Swale derby prior to his managerial appointment in January 2024.

With rain forecast to continue over the coming days, Warrilow is optimistic plenty of fans will flock to Salters Lane to watch two play-off chasing sides face each other.

“I’m hoping for a big crowd,” said Warrilow. “It’s probably one of the games to come to.

“If you’re looking for a top-of-the-table clash in any of the leagues, it should be up there.

“Obviously, it’s the Swale derby. I’ll be honest, I was a bit ignorant to that.

"I didn’t realise that Faversham versus Sittingbourne was a big thing until I came in here.

“Without this coming across wrong, I’m not too bothered about that. All I’m bothered about on Saturday is getting three points.

“Even if we do, we won’t be jumping up and down. We will just go onto the next one.

"But it will be a tough match against a good side.”

The Lilywhites have already played the Brickies twice this term at Woodstock, losing 2-1 in the FA Trophy in September before a 3-1 league victory the following month, as two-goal Tashi-Jay Kwayie and Eniye Amgbaduba did the damage.

Sittingbourne have changed boss since, however, with Reece Prestedge enjoying an excellent start in charge of the Brickies after he replaced Ryan Maxwell in November. Maxwell left Sittingbourne for Isthmian Premier Welling United.
