Dover Athletic suffered a second home National League South defeat of the season as they were undone by Maidenhead United on Saturday.

Remy Clerima was awarded the first-half goal for Ryan Peters’ men and, after Whites defender Roman Charles-Cook had been dismissed, strikers Connor Hall and Josh Umerah were on target after the break as it ended 3-0 to them at Crabble.

Following a cagey start, the Ravens created the first clear-cut chance when ex-Ebbsfleet midfielder Christian N’Guessan blasted over captain Josh Coley’s corner.

Charles-Cook became the first player in referee Daniel England’s book as he took out away goalkeeper Jordi van Stappershoef on 26 minutes.

Two minutes later, Maidenhead drew first blood. Defender Clerima was credited with the goal, leaping highest at the back post to connect with what was already a sixth Coley corner of the afternoon, and the ball was deflected beyond Whites keeper Mitch Walker to find the net.

The hosts came close to an equaliser when a Maidenhead player did just enough to clear after the recalled Harry Beadle had met a fantastic cross by midfielder Euan Williams in the 42nd minute.

Soon after at the other end, Clerima met the latest corner by Coley - another former Ebbsfleet player - at the far post, only for the ball to fall inches wide of goalkeeper Walker’s left-hand post on that occasion.

Whites made a bright start after the interval but were reduced to 10 men in the 53rd minute.

Charles-Cook was ruled to have pulled 28-year-old Coley down in midfield and, although the Grenada international felt the foul should have been given the other way, the officials disagreed.
