Fans thank Sam Smith for ‘beautiful tribute’ to murdered teenager Brianna Ghey

Sam Smith has paid tribute to murdered teenager Brianna Ghey. The transgender 16-year-old from Warrington was found dead in a park on February 11.

The ‘Unholy’ singer who is currently on their GLORIA tour, wore a vibrant green Valentino gown paired with a headpiece that had Brianna’s name emblazoned on it.

Smith, 30, performed a cover of Des’ree’s ‘I’m Kissing You’ on Thursday night (April 19) in London’s O2 Arena, paying tribute to Brianna.

Following their performance, the singer posted a picture of them wearing the crown that had ‘Brianna Ghey’ on it, which has since accumulated over 15,000 likes on Facebook and over 5,000 on Twitter.

Fans thanked the singer for paying tribute to the teenager with many calling it a “beautiful” and “touching” performance in her memory.

Betty Mofya called it “an amazing tribute to a queen” while Gemma Marie Bennett said “What a wonderful tribute. Well done Sam.”

A.J. Orr commented on the Facebook post: “What a lovely tribute to Brianna and for her family. Thank you Sam x”

Helen Æ Redfearn added: “Absolutely beautiful tribute Sam. You are so sweet.”

A boy and a girl, both aged 15, have been charged with murder and are due to go on trial at Liverpool Crown Court on July 10. Neither accused can be named because of their age.
