'He gets it' - Man United fans say same thing about Erik ten Hag reaction to anti-Glazers scarf

Manchester United fans couldn't help but get excited after Erik ten Hag was seen briefly holding a green and gold scarf following the Reds' win over Aston Villa.

United secured a 1-0 win over Villa on Sunday, with Bruno Fernandes scoring the only goal of the game in the 39th minute. The win saw Ten Hag's side move another step closer to securing Champions League football for next season. The Reds now sit two points behind third-placed Newcastle with a game in hand.

As Ten Hag headed towards the Old Trafford tunnel after the full-time whistle, he stopped to pick up a green and gold scarf that a Reds fan had thrown in his direction. While it appeared the Dutchman was simply returning the scarf, it didn't stop supporters reacting to it on social media.

United fans wear the green and gold scarves in protest against the Glazer family. It is a direct nod towards the club's former days as Newton Heath, who played in a green and gold strip throughout their 24-year existence.

Here's how some United fans reacted to Ten Hag's 'interaction' with supporters at the end of the game against Villa...

The Glazers have become increasingly unpopular in recent years, but with third and final bids for the club submitted on Friday, it appears United could potentially have new owners in the coming months. In November, the Reds' owners announced the board had "authorised a thorough evaluation of strategic alternatives", including selling the club.

For Ten Hag, he will simply be focused on his side's next match, which comes away at Brighton on Thursday night.
