Man City fans share same 'surprise' at Pep Guardiola decision for West Ham clash

Man City have suffered a late blow for their Premier League clash against West Ham on Wednesday evening with Ederson absent. City have the chance to re-establish their place at the top of the Premier League this evening, following Arsenal's win over Chelsea on Tuesday.

Pep Guardiola's side currently sit two points off their title rivals but have two games in hand, the first of which is this evening. They welcome to the Etihad a West Ham side who look to have pulled clear of relegation trouble, but David Moyes' side have lost their last two against Liverpool and Crystal Palace.

And Pep Guardiola threw a curveball by leaving Ederson on the bench, the Brazilian missing his first Premier League game of the season for Stefan Ortega.

Speaking shortly after the teams were confirmed, the Blues boss admitted it was a matter of resting the goalkeeper amid a hectic schedule.

"[He needs to]rest a little bit," he told Sky Sports. "There's a lot of games, to take a rest is good. We have a lot of confidence in Stefan and we try to have everyone involved."

It came as a big surprise for City supporters, who took to social media to share their thoughts.
