Facundo Pellistri sends message to Manchester United teammates as pre-season tour ends

Manchester United winger Facundo Pellistri has warned his teammates they must continue to work hard in pre-season if they want to be prepared for the upcoming Premier League season.

Pellistri started United's 3-2 defeat by Borussia Dortmund in Las Vegas and although his opportunities were on the whole limited during the tour of America, the Uruguayan impressed on the left wing against the Bundesliga side.

United have two more games to play in pre-season, against Lens at Old Trafford on Saturday and Athletic Bilbao in Dublin on Sunday.

The 21-year-old is aiming to make a bigger impact at United this season after making just eight appearances last term. Pellistri stressed the importance of working hard in pre-season to help the club achieve their goals.

He told MUTV: "Being here in a tour, it’s very important because pre-seasons are the time when you have to prepare for a whole season. Of course, we are training so hard, sometimes too much but it’s very important because that’s the only way we can achieve big things. If you don’t train hard in pre-season then it’s impossible. We are training very hard, and trying to have fun."

Erik ten Hag has a bevy of options on the wings next season and Pellistri will be in another for minutes. Recently, the South American's agent Edgardo Lasalvia admitted he would be doing everything he could to secure a client a move to Boca Juniors should they be interested in him this summer.

United are understood to be open to loaning the winger this season to help him gain more experience.
