Fabio Silva in veiled Celtic swipe after Rangers transfer as Wolves loanee hypes up 'best team in Scotland' decision

New Rangers recruit Fabio Silva has declared he wanted to sign for the "best team" in Scotland when he heard about interest from north of the border.

The Wolves star has left Molineux on loan after dropping down the pecking order at the English Premier League club following his bumper £35million move from Porto - with boss Gary O'Neil green lighting a deal for the Portugal U21 cap to the Scottish Premiership to ramp up his first-team minutes in a bid to revive his career. A number of clubs were reportedly tracking attacker Silva from across Europe with rivals Celtic reportedly being offered the star.

Record Sport has been told by Celtic Park sources have since stated they weren’t in for the player and are pursuing other targets in the January window. However, that hasn't stopped the 21-year-old taking a veiled swipe at the Hoops as he gushed about being told about interest from Ibrox by his representatives.

Asked about his reaction when he heard about the interest from the Light Blues, he told Rangers TV: "It was amazing. Everyone knows I had other options from other clubs, but when I saw the option to come to Rangers on loan I was very happy. It was my first option straight away.

"I like to win titles, play at big clubs and feel the pressure straight away and to play in big competitions. To come here, for me, when we spoke about Scotland for me Rangers was the best team here.

"So I want to be here, to play with the fans and for my teammates and to win titles - that is the most important thing."
