Sutton and Ferguson combined Celtic and Rangers XIs as legends see merits of derby rivals
It's the type of debate which keep dedicated followers from both sides of Glasgow going for hours.
And who better than the esteemed Record Sport duo of Chris Sutton and Barry Ferguson to offer their best combined Celtic and Rangers XIs based on current form. The duo are veterans of one of the most visceral fixtures in world football and know exactly what is needed from the players who cross the white line in the hunt for three points.
But who's in, and who's out? If a fan of either team had been living under a rock since the start of the season there are some selections, from both, which would be a shock to those unaware of the season which has unfolded in Scottish football. And here is the XIs the Celtic icon and the Rangers legend have conjured up.
JACK BUTLAND
He was a kid coming through when I was at Birmingham and always had the confidence to make it big. Has settled in brilliantly at Ibrox.
JAMES TAVERNIER.
Energy, drive and determination to get forward and score goals makes the Rangers captain a must pick at right back.
CONNOR GOLDSON
If fit, he plays every week and is so strong and consistent. A real leader and a much underrated defender in my eyes.
CAMERON CARTER-VICKERS
Probably the best out and out defender in Scottish football and Celtic miss him badly when he is not in their back four.
BORNA BARISIC
This was a tough call because there's not much between him and Greg Taylor. Delivery into the box swings it for me.
CALLUM McGREGOR
So consistent, so good on the ball and is the heartbeat of the Celtic team. Never misses a game and rarely has a poor one.
JOHN LUNDSTRAM
Has been a revelation under Clement because he is back doing what he's good at, breaking up play and keeping things simple.
