FA Cup third qualifying round weekend round-up: Folkestone Invicta, Whitstable Town, Chatham Town and Ebbsfleet United through; Cray Valley force replay at Tonbridge Angels

Folkestone caused an FA Cup third qualifying round shock at Horsham on Saturday.

The National League South Hornets, who have reached the first round proper in three of the past four years, moved into a 2-0 lead against Jay Saunders’ Isthmian Premier high-fliers thanks to attacker Shamir Fenelon’s first-half double.

But Finley Marjoram halved the deficit in front of a 993-strong attendance ahead of the break and two goals in three minutes by defender Ben Mason and striker Josh Strouts completed Folkestone’s 3-2 triumph.

New Tonbridge manager Alan Dunne started life in charge of the club with a goalless draw at Isthmian Premier Cray Valley PM, managed by ex-Angels manager Steve McKimm.

The teams will meet again in the replay at Longmead on Tuesday.

Whitstable Town are through to the FA Cup fourth qualifying round for the first time in their history after pulling off another upset.

They are one win away from a place in the first round proper after goals from Bradley Schafer and 38-year-old Joe Healy in a 2-0 home win over Southern League Premier South Hungerford.

It was a third successive victory over Step 3 opponents for Jamie Coyle’s Southern Counties East League Premier Division side after they had previously knocked out Dulwich Hamlet and Chichester.

Ebbsfleet were made to work hard by Faversham Town in a keenly-contested Kent FA Cup derby.

The hosts appeared to be cruising through their third qualifying round tie, 2-0 up through goals from Kwesi Appiah and Tom Dallison, but the Lilywhites pulled a goal back on the stroke of half-time through midfielder Harrison Pont to set up a tense second period as it ended 2-1 at Stonebridge Road.
