Dover Athletic defender Roman Charles-Cook and Whitstable Town striker Javaun Splatt start international friendly as Grenada beat British Virgin Islands 4-1 at Kirani James Athletics Stadium

Two footballers at Kent clubs came up against one another in an international friendly in the Caribbean on Wednesday night.

Dover defender Roman Charles-Cook and Whitstable striker Javaun Splatt started as Grenada played British Virgin Islands at the Kirani James Athletics Stadium where the hosts ran out 4-1 victors.

A double from AFC Wimbledon winger Myles Hippolyte put Grenada into a 2-0 half-time advantage as he fired past Hythe loanee goalkeeper Frankie Beckles, who has joined the Cannons from Isthmian South Central Hendon on a temporary basis.

British Virgin Islands - led by Spain’s David Perez Asensio - pulled one back as 24-year-old Splatt, formerly of Tonbridge, Sittingbourne, Sheppey and Hythe, played in captain Tyler Forbes to fire home after the restart.

But substitute Deanroy Phillip restored the hosts’ two-goal cushion in the 76th minute and completed his brace in stoppage time for a fourth consecutive win for Grenada, managed by Anthony Modeste.

Grenada will be back in action against Cuba in another friendly this weekend.

Whitstable visit National League Wealdstone for an FA Cup fourth qualifying round tie on Saturday while Dover welcome Horsham to Crabble for a National League South fixture.
