F1 Esports Women's Wildcard returns for 2022 season

The Formula 1 Esports Women’s Wildcard has returned for 2022, giving female sim racers the chance to compete at the F1 Esports Series Pro Exhibition.

In its second instalment, the Women’s Wildcard will showcase some of the fastest women and girls and discover who has what it takes to master Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Sim racers will record their fastest lap time around the famous Spanish Grand Prix circuit and the five with the best times will be invited to Silverstone for a special one-off race to determine who will progress to the Pro Exhibition.

F1 Esports has been wildly popular since it started in 2017 but the Women’s Wildcard is still a new addition to the competition.

Last month, McLaren hosted a Women’s Wildcard Experience Day and invited GiveMeSport Women down to the McLaren Technology Centre, alongside other motorsport content creators and influencers.

The Experience Day, hosted by Sky Sports presenter Natalie Pinkham, gave the media the opportunity to record their own lap times using the racing sims in the incredible McLaren Shadow Studio.

While it was not an official competition, the participants were able to experience real sim racing conditions and attempt to master the corners of Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

W Series, the all-female racing championship, has skyrocketed in popularity since its first season in 2019. The drivers have made waves on the real circuits, and now it’s time to boost the amount of women getting involved in virtual racing.
