Ex-WWE star has 'open door' to make sensational return

Johnny Gargano, one of the top stars of Triple H’s NXT, left WWE after his contract expired in December 2021.

Gargano hasn’t done any work in wrestling since, instead deciding to spend time with his family, with his wife Candice LeRae giving birth in February.

However, many fans have speculated that when Gargano is ready to come back to wrestling, he could just come back to WWE.

Dave Meltzer has echoed this, reporting in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Gargano has an “open door” back to WWE, and could make a return there.

Gargano is expected to be back in wrestling soon, so a return to WWE, whether that’s on the main roster or back in NXT 2.0, could be right on the horizon.

What makes this interesting is the way in which NXT has changed since Triple H was in charge, becoming most less of a wreslting-focused product and more of a developmental brand.

Gargano, being a veteran ta this stage, wouldn’t be someone that WWE would be looking to push in NXT, so perhaps his future does lie on either Raw or SmackDown.

Despite this speculation, it’s worth noting that it’s not been reported that creative has been tasked with coming up with plans for Gargano’s return, just that he is able to return to WWE if he wants to.

An offer is likely to come in for Gargano from AEW, giving the fact many of his friends work there, with the fact he’s one of the best talents in the world certainly not helping his case too.

Whatever the future holds for the former NXT Champion, he is more than likely going to be putting in a Match of the Year contender, as he always tends to do, before too long.
