Ex Scotland international slaughters 'f***** embarrassing' flops as Shane Duffy aghast over Euro 2024 snub

Former Scotland international Paul Ritchie delivered an astonishing expletive-laden rant towards Steve Clarke and his players for their performance as they crashed out of Euro 2024 - as ex Celtic loanee Shane Duffy revealed his shock at James Forrest being left on the bench against Hungary.

Former Hearts, Rangers and Manchester City defender Ritchie was capped seven times for his country and was left in disbelief at the display against Hungary in Stuttgart where Scotland went down to a 100th minute goal, knowing they needed a victory to all but guarantee progress to the last-16 or even a draw to keep alive slim hopes.

Ritchie is now based in America where he works as a coach and took to social media to post a photo of him watching the game and shared his views during the match before concluding at full time: "Speechless right now. Never seen such an incompetent performance. Absolutely devastated. From Clarke to all players. You should be f****** embarrassed. Awful. I have never felt such a low as I'm feeling right now. That was an absolutely devastating defeat. I am without words that would be constructive in any way."

Earlier, during the game, he said: "Pull your s*** together and try and win this game please Scotland," adding as they went on the attack late on: "Now we go and try and win the game with seven minutes to go. Scotland. This isn't basketball. Do your f****** jobs."

Meanwhile, Republic of Ireland international Duffy was in disbelief that his former Celtic team-mate James Forrest wasn't used with Scotland needing an attacking threat. Duffy said: "James Forrest?? How is he not on this pitch."
