Everton now ‘ready’ to complete signing of £11m star at Goodison Park

Everton are ready to complete the signing of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Idrissa Gueye before the transfer deadline, but it remains to be seen whether the Ligue 1 side will grant his exit, according to journalist Paul Brown.

Frank Lampard has overseen a busy few months of business at Goodison Park but can still add to his side before 11pm on September 1.

According to RMC Sport, the 32-year-old has asked for his contract at the Parc des Princes to be terminated to allow his return to Everton to go through, with one year left to run on the deal.

But the report claims that PSG are continuing to stall over their decision, leaving any agreement with the Toffees up in the air.

At the start of August, Gueye reportedly underwent a medical at Everton, alongside Conor Coady, and was on the verge of his return, according to 90Min.

They claimed the 94-cap Senegal international, who is valued at £10.8 million by Transfermarkt, was set to return on a two-year deal but there has seemingly been little progress in negotiations with PSG since.

Days later, the same publication revealed that the move had stalled over a compensation dispute with Gueye, something the Ligue 1 champions want Everton to contribute towards.

Brown understands that Everton remain poised and ready to complete this deal when the right moment arises.

But the journalist says that it will ultimately come down to whether PSG agree to facilitate a smooth exit or not and that a waiting game has ensued.
