Wolves move 'would interest' exciting 103-game star at Molineux

Wolverhampton Wanderers have been boosted in their pursuit of Mohammed Kudus as a move to Molineux ‘would be of interest’ to the Ajax star, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Head coach Bruno Lage has not been afraid to splash the cash during the summer window, having parted with more than £100million, but further reinforcements could be drafted in ahead of the 11pm deadline on September 1.

According to Ghana Soccernet, Wolves have joined the race to sign Kudus on a season-long loan from Ajax.

The report suggests the West Midlands outfit are set to open talks with the 16-cap Ghana international’s representatives.

However, Wolves are not the only Premier League side showing an interest as Everton have reportedly been in discussions over an initial temporary deal which boasts the option of being made permanent and Kudus has indicated he would be open to a move.

Although Ajax are keen to hold onto the central midfielder, it is understood that Kudus wants to secure more game-time ahead of the 2022 World Cup taking place in Qatar this winter.

He has found opportunities hard to come by since the 2022/23 season got underway, with the reigning Eredivisie champions’ new boss Alfred Schreuder only offering 50 minutes of action through substitute appearances.

Jones is surprised that Kudus has not been offered a regular role in Ajax’s squad and, as a result, feels a number of clubs should be keeping tabs on his situation.

However, the transfer insider understands that a switch to Wolves has caught the Ghanaian’s eye ahead of the fast-approaching deadline.
