Everton: Lampard 'would love to sign' £30m star in final hours at Goodison Park

Everton boss Frank Lampard ‘would love to sign’ Armando Broja and Chelsea could sanction a move to Goodison Park if they bolster their attacking options, according to journalist Simon Phillips.

Lampard has added more firepower to his squad by tempting Neal Maupay away from Brighton & Hove Albion last week, but he may secure further reinforcements ahead of tonight’s 11pm deadline.

Everton have an ongoing interest in Broja, who is back at Chelsea after spending last season on loan with Premier League rivals Southampton.

The Toffees were reportedly handed the opportunity to land the striker when his current employers offered his services, along with Conor Gallagher and £25million, for Anthony Gordon.

However, with Lampard keen to retain the academy product’s services at Goodison Park, the high-profile swap deal has not been signed off.

It is understood that West Ham United have also been keeping tabs on Broja’s situation and were prepared to offer £30million for his signature last month.

Newcastle United have been providing additional competition for the 20-year-old, but time is running out if he is to leave Stamford Bridge ahead of the deadline.

Phillips understands that Everton are keen to strike a late deal for Broja and Lampard is driving the Merseyside outfit’s interest.

Although the journalist is aware that Chelsea are unwilling to do business, he feels they could sanction his exit if they are active in the remainder of the transfer window themselves.
