Erling Haaland injury latest as Man City striker delivers positive update amid training scare

Erling Haaland will play, likely from the start, in Norway's friendly with the Czech Republic on Friday.

Fears were raised over the Manchester City striker's fitness after footage showed him limping heavily in training on Tuesday. Pep Guardiola had sent Haaland to Norway duty suggesting City's players should be careful when approaching their friendly games this week given the more intense competitive games on the horizon on their return to Manchester.

Norway's team doctor Ola Sand had been quoted as downplaying any concern with Haaland, and the striker himself has now confirmed there is no injury.

Speaking to the press ahead of the friendly, TV2 quote Haaland as saying: "I'm feeling fine. I didn't walk off the training. I don't know who wrote that. I trained a full training session. I feel good and am ready to play the match." Manager Stale Solbakken has promised that Haaland will start the game, barring any injury.

Haaland was only answering questions about Norway, under instruction from the Norwegian FA, but did give a diplomatic answer when comparing City teammate Kevin De Bruyne to compatriot and Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard, saying he enjoys playing with both.

Haaland also shared the parting joke from City manager Guardiola, saying his boss warned the City squad not to get injured during the break. "[He said] 'if one of you comes back not fresh, I will come after you,' and smiled," said the striker.
