Haaland risk, Walker and Stones injuries - how Man City could line-up after international break

Before the international break, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola stressed that his players must be careful not to overexert themselves in what were only friendly matches.

Despite his best efforts to warn the players, City still managed to pick up some big injury concerns. Kyle Walker and John Stones were both substituted with issues during their stint with England, Manuel Akanji picked up a knock before Switzerland's clash with Ireland and Matheus Nunes missed Portugal's defeat to Slovenia with a foot injury.

All this followed the worrying Erling Haaland video from Norway training where he appeared to be struggling, albeit he did feature in both of Norway's international fixtures. The amount of issues City picked up during the past week to ten days is why some are branding this a nightmare international break for Guardiola but there could be some solace to be found for the Blues.

None of the issues appear to be particularly long-term. For instance, Walker and Stones looked to be withdrawn in an effort not to cause any further damage rather than through concerns they will be out indefinitely.

Arguably the biggest risk for City going into Sunday's clash with Arsenal surrounds Haaland. Since he arrived from Borussia Dortmund, the Blues have done superbly to ensure he is not overworked and forced to sit on the sidelines.

It could well be nothing to worry about but Guardiola would undoubtedly have preferred to see Haaland remain on the sidelines and allowed to rest ahead of what is destined to be a busy final few months of the season.
