Erik ten Hag will soon get his Manchester United strongest XI - but who is in it?

Erik ten Hag said he's yet to start his 'best starting XI' for Manchester United prior to playing Bayern Munich this week.

"One thing is true, from the start of last season I don't think I ever started with, in my opinion, the best starting XI," Ten Hag said at his press conference. "There was always injuries. We always got results apart from the period we are in now.

"I have experienced it in the past and managed it. You have to deal with it. I like these situations because you have to handle it and know what to do, and that is focusing on the process."

Most supporters took his comments with a pinch of salt considering last season's success, but they were also made by a manager who is understandably frustrated by the number of injuries he's currently contending with.

After Aaron Wan-Bissaka picked up an injury against Brighton, it became possible to pick an 'unavailable XI' and Ten Hag must have lamented his luck with injuries behind closed doors despite insisting it's part of football.

The good news is there are multiple players, like Mason Mount, Sofyan Amrabat and Kobbie Mainoo, who are close to a return to fitness, so what does Ten Hag's strongest XI and squad actually look like when everyone is available?
