What Erik ten Hag did after Scott McTominay winner in Man United moments missed vs Brentford

Scott McTominay described his winning goal against Brentford as an “out-of-body experience” and to those within Old Trafford, the win comes as a mighty relief.

The Reds were heading towards a third straight defeat with the pressure on Erik ten Hag set to ramp up until his midfielder netted two stoppage-time goals to earn the hosts a 2-1 triumph. Mathias Jensen had put Brentford ahead on 26 minutes after Andre Onana could not keep his effort out.

However, the visitors were left crestfallen by the late McTominay show as United clocked their fourth Premier League win of the season. Here are a few things United supporters may have missed amidst the chaos at Old Trafford.

Limbs were flying in the terraces around Old Trafford when McTominay netted the winner seven minutes into stoppage time. Several United teammates reacted in similar fashion, charging down the goalscorer to maul him in celebration.

Others took a different approach. Diogo Dalot simply collapsed in the D of the penalty area in dramatic fashion. The sheer relief was one all United fans could relate to.

Ten Hag has been a rather stoic character on the sidelines at times and in recent weeks, he has been seen scowling and shaking his head. When he patted McTominay on the back ahead of his 87th-minute introduction, he was placing hope rather than expectation on the midfielder.

He joined the rest of Old Trafford when his super sub found his second strike. He didn’t quite become the flying Dutchman but he let out a massive roar with several fist pumps and a lot of goosebumps.
