Erik ten Hag may have inadvertently confirmed Manchester United's key defender

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is making strides this season to implement his ideal style on his team.

Last season, the Dutchman had to compromise as some square pegs were attempted to be forced into round holes. This approach ended in disaster early doors as Brighton and Hove Albion and Brentford dished out disappointing results for United.

Ten Hag adapted and the campaign was eventually able to be classed as a success. However, the Reds' boss is not willing to settle there.

Allowing David de Gea to leave and replace him with Andre Onana is the biggest hint yet of a defensive overhaul. The Cameroonian is known for his ability to play out from the back and in the few minutes we have seen, Onana has shown his strengths lie there as well as the goalkeeping basics which are also required.
