Erik ten Hag could be about to give Roy Keane what he wanted at Manchester United this summer

Erik ten Hag would be giving Roy Keane what he wants at Manchester United if they sell Fred and Scott McTominay this summer.

The Brazilian looks set to leave United, with Fulham interested in signing him. Fred has one year left on his contract and looks the most likely to depart.

United are open to bids for McTominay but won't force him out of the door, and have lined up Sofyan Amrabat as a potential replacement, should the Scotsman leave. West Ham are interested but would need to find £40million for United to enter the deal, but injury to Kobbie Mainoo has also made McTominay a more important player in Ten Hag's squad.

The pair have drifted from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first-choice pairing to squad players under Ten Hag. Keane has never been keen on the 'McFred' partnership and lambasted both players in August 2022 after United's defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion.

It was a 2-0 home defeat for Ten Hag in his first Premier League game and the pair did little to convince him they were the way forward that day. Keane was often critical of them during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's reign and that didn't change.

"The decision-making and the football intelligence, in particular from Fred - and I've said this for a long time - Fred and McTominay are not good enough," he said. "They won't get Manchester United back competing at the top.

"We see it week in, week out. [They are] not up to it.

"They had to gamble in the second half and Eriksen is probably in his best position when he drops back and he's picking up
