Elland Road latest news: Leeds face 'nervous' few months ahead with gap to bottom-three just six points

Journalist Pete O’Rourke reckons the months ahead could be “nervous” for Leeds but has backed the Yorkshire giants to stay in the Premier League.

Leeds’ campaign has been overshadowed by a wretched injury list, although Marcelo Bielsa’s men have still managed to remain above the relegation-zone.

Consecutive Premier League victories, the first time they achieved that feat all season, had Leeds heading in the right direction at the start of 2022.

But a three-game winless run, combined with Norwich and Newcastle’s improved form down the bottom, has left the Elland Road outfit with work to do before they can start planning for a third campaign in the top-flight.

Leeds are now only six points above the bottom-three after they were well beaten at Everton last weekend, conceding three goals for the second game in succession.

With a wretched run of fixtures upcoming, Bielsa’s side could get dragged into a relegation battle if results go against them in the coming months, although O’Rourke reckons they’ve got enough in their squad to survive.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “It’s a nervous time for Leeds, but I think once they get these players back fit they’ve got more than enough to stay in the Premier League.

“They’ve done ok so far with Raphinha leading from the front and helping Leeds stay above the relegation-zone.”
