Elland Road latest news: Patrick Bamford's injury situation has been "concerning" for Leeds

Pete O’Rourke has described Patrick Bamford’s ongoing injury situation as “concerning” and a “disappointment” for Leeds.

The striker has been out of action for almost three months and has been restricted to just a handful of appearances this season.

Having enjoyed an impressive first top-flight season with Leeds, the frontman would have been hoping to kick on and better the 17 league goals he scored last season.

He made a decent start, scoring once and laying on two assists in his first five Premier League outings this term.

But an ankle problem sustained at Newcastle in September forced Bamford to spend two months on the sidelines. He would make his comeback against Brentford in dramatic fashion by scoring a last-gasp equaliser to earn Leeds a point in early December.

However, Bamford’s joy was short-lived after he injured his hamstring when celebrating that late goal and hasn’t appeared since. He’s now missed more than 20 games in all competitions, with Leeds struggling in his absence at the wrong end of the Premier League table.

The £18m-rated striker is expected to return to action before the end of the season, but O’Rourke has described his lack of minutes this season as a “disappointment” for Leeds.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “It’s really concerning for Leeds and Patrick Bamford and a real disappointment, because he had such a great season last year.”
