Elden Ring: Where to find every Smithing Stone

In Elden Ring, upgrading your character is a vital part of the game, but so is upgrading your weapons, so where exactly do you find the Smithing Stones you need to do so?

You’ll need the Stones to keep continuously upgrading your base weapon, or to upgrade those weapons that enemies drop, and you pick up.

Having a levelled sword, axe, or any other kind of melee weapon is likely to be a huge help in certain boss fights down the road, particularly both Margit the Fell Omen and Godrick the Grafted.

But you’ll need to go out and about in the world to find these stones and they aren’t all that easy to discover.

We’ve put together a guide on where to find a variety of Smithing Stones, particularly early in the game, with the help of GameSpot’s guide.

It should also be said that there are three separate types of smithing stones – Tier 1 stones are your basic stones, Tier 2 allow you to upgrade your weapon up to a +6, with the help of a blacksmith, and Tier 3 let you go to a +9. Somber Smithing Stones can also be found and they can upgrade special weapons and are levelled between one and 10.

Good luck out there when you go searching for the stones, as you may well need to beat some enemies in order to pick them up.

You can find these at the following locations.

It’s also worth noting that Iji the Blacksmith is an NPC operating in West Liurnia and he’ll sell you an unlimited amount of Tier 1 and Tier 2 stones if you have the runes to spend. He’s just north of the Manor Site of Grace. He also has the ability to sell Tier 3 and 4 stones as well.
