Elden Ring: Players are selling millions of Runes on eBay

Elden Ring is one of the biggest games that has been released in recent years and, as a result, it’s no surprise that some opportunistic players have already found a way to cash in.

Now, we should say here before we go on, that buying Runes on eBay, which is now something players are doing, can earn you a ban. You shouldn’t do it.

But a quick search on eBay, as PC Gamer has reported, shows that a number of players are selling their Runes to other players.

Runes are the in-game currency that players use to level up, with 70 million runes being sold for £24.

There are hundreds of millions of Runes being sold for three figures, and as per PC Gamer, the Runes are being bought and sold on eBay and are then being traded in the game.

You can’t directly send Runes to another player in Elden Ring, hence this black market popping up, but the aforementioned report has detailed how it is being done.

When the purchase is made, the two players agree on a time and place to meet in the game. The seller summons the buyer and then uses their inventory to drop the agreed upon number of Runes. The buyer then picks them up and goes back to their own game.

As we say, this goes against the terms of service laid out when you start the game and participating in the act could get your account permanently banned from the game. From Software could also completely wipe your Rune wallet or suspend your account for a certain amount of time or, potentially, both.

You can actually unlock Runes pretty easily in the game, just by beating enemies, taking on bosses, and finding treasure chests out in the wild.
