Elden Ring: How to beat the Fire Giant

Elden Ring has so many bosses that it can be hard to know which are optional and which are mandatory.

One of the mandatory bosses is the Fire Giant, and it’s one of the toughest fights you’re going to face in the game.

If you want to see the credits roll, you’re going to have to find a way past the Fire Giant but you’ll have to be aware that this battle is no joke.

Of course, we tend to say that at the start of every Elden Ring guide we put together here at GiveMeSport but it’s undeniable here.

But still, here’s a guide on how to beat the Fire Giant in Elden Ring and progress the story towards the finale as you aim to become the Elden Lord.

First of all, we’d recommend having a hugely levelled up spirit summon – ideally to +10 that you can utilise in the fight. It’s either that, or be willing to call in a human cooperator online.

Of course, you’ll also want to make sure that you’ve taken protective measures against fire damage; utilising the Flamedrake Talisman is one way of doing this.

A tank-like melee weapon is going to be your best bet in the fight, too, so you can inflict some real damage in melee combat.

The main crux of the fight is needing to dodge at the right times. The Fire Giant regularly sends a huge amount of snow at you but you can dodge roll forward through the attack, and avoid it, leaving the Giant open for an attack.

Lock onto its left foot and land a hit whenever possible. Every time the Giant raises its leg, it’ll bring it back down around a second later; you can dodge it completely to avoid taking any damage.

Keep hacking away and when the HP reaches a certain level, the Giant will groan in pain and roll away. Then, it will open its stomach up and shoot fire at you.
