Elden Ring: How to complete Dung Eater questline
Elden Ring has a number of quests that aren’t exactly easy to find, including the story path handed out by the Dung Eater.
He is one of the Tarnished mentioned in the opening cinematic, and his questline can reward you with the Mending Rune of the Fell Curse. You’ll also get a new armour set.
That rune cannot be equipped by your character, but it does grant you access to an alternate ending once you beat the final boss.
The next paragraph will include a spoiler for the ending of the game so be aware of that before you read on; if you don’t want to know what the Blessing of Despair ending is, click off the piece!
The Blessing of Despair ending comes about when you have the Mending Rune, and you can choose “Use Mending Rune of the Fell Curse”. It means that the Tarnished chooses to use the rune, and begin the new age as Elden Lord – the Lands Between have now been overtaken by a curse.
To kick the quest off, you’ll have to find the Dung Eater in the Roundtable Hold.
You won’t get access to his room until you’ve reached the Altus Plateau in storyline.
You’ll have to beat the Magma Wyrm Makar to get this far, so this boss battle is vital to your progression in this questline.
When you’ve reached the Altus Plateau, you can go back to the Roundtable Hold and the Dung Eater can be found in a previously locked room, beyond the Twin Maiden Husks.
He looks like a hostile NPC invader, cloaked in red, so you won’t be able to miss him.
Once you gain access to the room, you can speak to the Dung Eater and he’ll tell you that you’ll need to find the Seedbed Curse.
There are six of these – you’ll need to get five to be able to finish the quest. At this point you only need one.
