Elden Ring: How to beat Godrick the Grafted

Elden Ring has a variety of bosses that you can choose to fight but how do you beat Godrick the Grafted?

It’s a good question, as a variety of players are finding it remarkably difficult to progress past the second mandatory boss in the game.

Indeed, the first fight you need to have is against Margit The Fell Omen, and we’ve put together a separate guide on how to beat him and gain access to Stormveil Castle.

Once you’re in, you’ll come across Godrick, who is a tougher opponent than Margit, and will take some real time to beat, unless you’re hugely over-levelled for the battle.

Our guide should make things that little bit easier but, as ever, be aware that you can always walk away from the fight and go somewhere else until you’ve levelled up to a point where the fight will be something of a cakewalk.

Now, the first thing to say here is that Godrick is a really, really powerful enemy and may be one of the biggest tests you come across early in the game.

He has huge area attacks that can reach far and wide and he also splits the boss fight into two phases, much like Margit before him.

You’ll know when the second phase starts as there’ll be a cutscene.

Still, follow a number of these steps to have a real chance in the fight, and to give you the best chance of putting this big lad down.

As we’ve noted, there are two sections to this fight and there’s a real challenge just when it comes to surviving until the cutscene in the middle of the battle.
