Eintracht Frankfurt break silence on Donny van de Beek and Manchester United transfer

Eintracht Frankfurt are confident they will get their swoop for Donny van de Beek over the line.

The rarely-used Manchester United midfielder is expected to sign for the Bundesliga side - initially on loan - this January with an option to buy included in his proposed transfer agreement. Van de Beek, 26, has been unable to break into the United team with any regularity three-and-a-half-years after he joined them from Ajax.

Van de Beek has agreed personal terms with Frankfurt and the two clubs are thrashing it out to finalise the cost involved for his loan services. The option to make the Dutchman's stay permanent next summer is thought to be worth £12.5million if that is triggered before next season.

Completion is also subject to a medical and, in any case, can only go through on January 1. Van de Beek could train with United before then and he remains available for selection.

Breaking silence on Van de Beek's impending switch, Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krosche told Kicker: "I'm very confident that Donny will be with us for the next six months.

"We still need quality across the board. We need experience, we are a very young team. Donny can certainly help us with that."

Van de Beek signed for United from Ajax in 2020 with the Premier League giants spending £40million on him. He has made only six starts for the club in the top-flight since then, though, and even a reunion with Erik ten Hag did not manage to increase his overall game-time.
