Ederson breaks silence on Stefan Ortega 'dissatisfaction' amid Man City transfer uncertainty

Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson has hit back at 'false' reports suggesting he was unhappy with the praise that Stefan Ortega received last season.

In the pivotal clash with Tottenham Hotspur, the Brazilian was forced off the pitch with a head injury which ended his season early. Ortega replaced the Blues' first-choice shot-stopper who was visibly annoyed by the decision.

During his cameo, the German managed to pull off a tremendous stop to deny Son Heung-min in a one-on-one scenario which led to widespread praise. This week, a report in The Athletic claimed Ederson was annoyed by the praise Ortega had received including the suggestion by some that he would not have made the save his replacement performed to deny the South Korean international.

This was used as a reason for why Ederson is reportedly contemplating a move to Saudi Arabia this summer with Al Ittihad thought to be keen to sign him. But taking to social media, the 30-year-old has given his side of the story on the report.

He wrote: "Clarifying that the note published by The Athletic yesterday, referring to the alleged dissatisfaction on my part with a co-worker. It is totally false.

"The alleged day reported was undoubtedly one of the most difficult days of my career when I suffered a fracture that prevented me from disputing the final stretch of the season and consequently, also in representing my country in the Copa America. At the time of the injury, my thought was only to continue in the match, defending City in the dispute of the title, but the emotion of the match would be greater than the reality and fatally, I would not be able to proceed as I would like
