Ebbsfleet United manager Josh Wright says club’s ‘Football League’ standards makes difference when it comes to player recruitment

Ebbsfleet manager Josh Wright insists the club remain an attractive destination for potential targets.

The Fleet boss has added nine faces this summer with his new-look squad appearing all but complete ahead of their return to pre-season training.

It’s a highly competitive market to recruit new faces in National League South, the race for players made difficult by the ever-increasing number of full-time clubs now operating at this level.

It’s already a different landscape from when Ebbsfleet won the title in the 2022/23 season.

“When players come in to meet us and have a chat and walk around the place, everyone knows that we’re a very well run football club,” said Wright.

“That’s a credit to the ownership and that’s a credit to Damien [Irvine], the CEO, because we do things right.

“There’s other clubs that are full-time. I don’t need to name them because that’s not my place but how sustainable is it and how do they do it? I don’t want to go into too much details but what’s the infrastructure like, what’s the off-the-field stuff like.

“It looks appealing [to players] because of the financial side of things and their plans of where they want to go but what’s the off-the-field infrastructure like?

“At Ebbsfleet it’s done spot on, absolutely spot on. It’s run like a Football League club.

“That’s down to the training, the gym work, the food that’s provided, the nutrients, the recovery stuff, the staff that I’ve got behind me and the extra percentages that you have in a working environment, the family feel that we create here. That’s a credit to everyone, the fans as well.
