Ebbsfleet United boss Josh Wright says players can expect more minutes in weekend friendlies away to Brentwood and at home to Tottenham under-21s

Manager Josh Wright will continue to build the minutes into his Ebbsfleet squad with a double-header this weekend.

The Fleet travel to Brentwood tomorrow (Friday) night before hosting Tottenham under-21s on Saturday.

After giving players an hour in the last set of friendlies, that figure is likely to rise again.

“I think the games that we’ve got have really given us a mix,” said Wright.

“Friday night will be a very tough game. After playing on Tuesday, to then go Friday and obviously Saturday, we have to share the load.

“You’ll see boys get more minutes now on Friday and Saturday. So, boys will stay on the pitch and have to repeat what they’re doing and dig in even more.

“They’ll get a good 75, probably minimum at least, on Friday night. The others will finish that game off and then that will flip on the Saturday.

“Again, we’ll be trialling out in terms of looking at combinations and relationships and formations and styles and tactics, all that sort of stuff.”

The Fleet were back on the training ground yesterday (Wednesday).

Speaking ahead of that, Wright said: “We’ll be on the training ground again. We’ll be learning in what I call the classroom and going through stuff as a group and individuals.

“They’ll do their work. They’ll do their gym stuff. They’ll have a nice recovery in between the game and then they’ll be back in Friday before the game to go through some stuff and then be ready for Friday night and Saturday.

“I’m looking forward to it, because Brentwood will be a tough game on another surface similar to Aveley.

“On Saturday, we’ve got a very good football club in Spurs coming to us and it’ll be a tough test. They’ll try and play through the thirds so we’ll have to get our shape right.”
