East Kilbride boss targets new striker after Caley Braves stalemate, as he demands more in final third
Mick Kennedy admits his East Kilbride side must do better in the final third after failing to score in the Lowland League for the first time this season.
And the K-Park gaffer revealed he hopes to have a new striker in by next week to make sure Kilby fire themselves to title glory this season.
East Kilbride endured a frustrating day in front of goal as they were held to a 0-0 draw with Lanarkshire rivals Caledonian Braves, and the visitors will feel they could have walked away with all three points after Jamie Watson failed to capitalise on an error from Kilby's onloan Motherwell goalkeeper Matty Connelly late in the first half.
Despite the result, EK extended their lead at the summit to six points from nearest rivals Hearts B.
But Kennedy - who saw Keir Samson and Nathan Flanagan hit the woodwork for EK - wasn't happy with his side, as they made it two games without a win, following a shock Boxing Day beating by Albion Rovers last time out.
He said: "We had a couple of half decent chances, but nothing too clear-cut.
"For all our possession, we need to take more of our opportunities in the game.
"When you look back on the game, Caley Braves probably have the best chance of the game.
"I know it is a mistake from Matthew, but for all our possession, they had the best chance.
"I said to the boys in the dressing room that no team is going to come here and make it easy for us, it is down to us to win games of football.
"We didn't create enough today. We got into some really good areas, particularly in the second half, but our final touch and decision-making wasn't good enough.
"That is two weeks in a row we've had opportunities to really extend our lead and we haven't taken advantage of it.
