Clyde 0 Aberdeen 2: Bully Wee boss "proud" of players after Scottish Cup exit

Clyde boss Ian McCall says he would have loved to see how Aberdeen coped if Connor Young's early effort off the post had gone in, but says he is proud of side's showing against the Scottish Premiership side.

The Dons went into the game with last season's embarrassing exit to non-league Darvel still fresh in their minds and League Two Bully Wee were dreaming off pulling off an upset of their own at New Douglas Park last night.

They almost put the cat amongst the pigeons when Young got in behind in the first half and saw his curling effort smack off the post.

Just moments later, Aberdeen broke the deadlock when Bojan Miovski's low drive found its way past Clyde keeper Neil Parry.

And the Dons put the game to bed in the second half when Nicky Devlin fired home to secure their progress.

It's Barry Robson's side who become the first team in the hat for Sunday's fifth round draw, but McCall says it would have been interesting to see what would have happened if his side had punced on their big opportunity.

He said: "Aberdeen deserved to win but they never had many chances.

“It’s a really good finish for the first goal. There’s only [Lawrence] Shankland and Kyogo better than Miovski in Scotland.

“Typical it’s Nicky Devlin that had to score the clincher.

“I’m proud of my players. They gave everything. It would interesting if the one that hit the post went in.

"We contained them really well, and had a good couple of chances towards the end of the game to make it 2-1.

"I'm proud of them, they gave everything. It was pleasing, but we're out of the cup. I'm sure our supporters appreciated the level of effort."
