Stirling Albion title-winner wants East Kilbride success for back-to-back silverware

East Kilbride’s new signing Robert Thomson enjoyed a dream debut just hours after joining from Stirling Albion.

And now the striker who lifted the League Two title with the Binos last season wants to claim back-to-back silverware to get Kilby into the SPFL.

Thomson joined the K-Park side last Thursday and 48 hours later he was the difference as EK saw off a spirited Cumbernauld Colts side 2-1 on Saturday, setting up John Robertson for the opener and then heading home the winner from Nathan Flanagan’s cross in the second half.

“I was anxious to get that first goal and get off the mark, so I’m glad to get the goal so early and, more importantly, the three points.

“It was good to setup Robbo. He was great today and took his chance really well.

“We didn’t create a lot of chances so it was important to take the ones that we did.”

Thomson brings a wealth of SPFL experience to the table, having played for the likes of Dundee United, Dumbarton, Morton and Stenhousemuir during his career.

In last season’s run to the League Two title with Stirling he hit 10
