Early returns and work with Liverpool duo – Leicester City stars get set for start of pre-season

Leicester City stars are gearing up for a return to Seagrave ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

The first batch of City players will be at the club’s training ground from next Monday, June 27, to begin their pre-season. But there are already players in action at the £100m facility ahead of the official start to training.

Wilfred Ndidi has been doing individual sessions with City fitness coaches as the midfielder looks to get back in shape following knee surgery in March. He came off badly from a 50-50 in the Europa Conference League tie at Rennes, and did not feature for the remainder of the season.

Ndidi was tasked by manager Brendan Rodgers with working through the summer to help get himself ready in time for pre-season, and the Nigerian midfielder did a week of warm-weather work in Dubai earlier this month. He has not been the only player at Seagrave either, with young prospects Kasey McAteer and Oli Ewing also checking in earlier in the week.

Away from Seagrave, players have been getting themselves ready to return. James Maddison has been training alongside Liverpool midfielders Jordan Henderson and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain during a golf break in Portugal, while Ayoze Perez has been putting in the hard yards back home in Tenerife. Jamie Vardy has been pictured back on the treadmill, while Ricardo Pereira has been working with regular personal trainer Francisco Martins in Portugal.

Having not played internationally, those four are expected to be among the first group of City stars back at Seagrave. The likes of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Marc Albrighton, Kelechi Iheanacho, Harvey Barnes, Hamza Choudhury, Boubakary Soumare, and Ryan Bertrand would also fall into that category.
