Footage issued by Greater Manchester Police shows the dramatic moment a knifeman was caught and arrested after more than a month on the run.

Akeam Hibbert, 25, has been jailed for 11 years after stabbing his victim in the chest with a kitchen knife. After evading police for more than a month after the stabbing, the manhunt escalated before a dramatic arrest.

The footage shows a police car rushing to a scene, with a voice on a radio sharing information on a man who has 'stabbed somebody in the chest'. The video then shows police pulling on the door handles and shouting 'open the door' to a man inside a black car, which has been pulled over to the side of the road.

The footage then shows Hibbert in handcuffs in the back of a car.

Hibbert, of Bolton, was handed an 11-year sentence today (February 14) after he stabbed a man in Longsight in May 2024. At around 61.5pm, police were called to reports of a stabbing on Slade Lane in Longsight, where Hibbert fled the scene. Police officers alongside colleagues from the North West Ambulance Service arrived at the scene and found a man in his 20s with a stab wound to his chest.

The victim was rushed to hospital where he was in a critical condition at the time. His condition improved and he became stable.
