Dermot Gallagher adamant Celtic got lucky over Morelos no goal as fellow pundit finds Clancy call 'incredible'

Former referee Dermot Gallagher reckons the decision to rule out Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos' goal in Saturday's pulsating 3-2 Celtic victory was lucky for the champions.

It was a day of high drama in Glasgow's east end the man in the middle Kevin Clancy was at the centre of a decision which irked the Ibrox side after the Colombian striker was left dumbfounded after he turned home. But his joy was short–lived as the man in the middle signalled for a foul on Alistair Johnston before the ball hit the net – a decision Stuart Dougal claims left VAR referee Nick Walsh's hands tie due to not being a clear and obvious error.

Speaking on Sky Sports' Ref Watch, the ex–leading whistler said: "I think Celtic got very, very lucky. Both players are grappling, for me, it's best to let it go. I think the danger, both players are grappling there's no doubt about it, they (Celtic) just got lucky."

And former Liverpool player Stephen Warnock – a ref watch regular – was aghast over the call to rule out what Rangers thought was the opener. He added: "Incredible, both players have got hands on each other, it's a physical game at the end of the day. That isn't enough to rule out a goal, it's physical contact, two players jostling for position. Again it's another poor decision."
