David Coote referee decision made for Carabao Cup action after that Man United flashpoint
David Coote will be back on the touchline just three days after his controversial awarding of a West Ham penalty during stoppage time of Manchester United's 2-1 defeat in London, the EFL and PGMOL have confirmed.

Defending his penalty area, Matthijs de Ligt collided with Hammers striker Danny Ings, who went over the Dutch defender's leg. The pair had no room to manoeuvre as both made genuine attempts to play the ball, with other players boxing them in.
VAR deemed that there was 'sufficient contact' on Ings to constitute a clear and obvious error, and recommended an on-field review. Coote went over to the monitor and as is often the case in this scenario, altered his original decision.
