Danny McGuire's Hull KR rallying call after picking up first win as head coach

After picking up his first win since replacing Tony Smith, Hull KR interim coach Danny McGuire's emotions after the game were clear to see as he was extremely proud of his player's efforts.

Tries from Jimmy Keinhorst, Ethan Ryan and Lachlan Coote saw Rovers record a nail-biting 15-10 victory over Wakefield Trinity, who are now bottom of the table after the weekend's results.

The win sees the Robins move up eighth on the Super League ladder and only two points away from Hull FC, who currently abode the final playoff spot. After a rocky few months, McGuire was delighted to see his side come away with the victory and believes the players deserve it after all the hard work they have put in since Smith's departure.

"I'm buzzing to be honest with you all," said McGuire. "More for the players because as a coach you work hard during the week and my staff have done so I'm really happy for them. We are striving to help the players get the best out of themselves each week.

"Singing Red Red Robin in the changing rooms, there's an element of relief for sure. I'm investing a lot into this, which has made me have to take a step away from family duties over the last few weeks, but what's important is how we found a way to grind the win out.

"It's not something Hull KR have been able to do since I've joined. As a player and a coach, I've witnessed us get rolled over in games like these, and the excuses would have been out, but not today."
