Released Leicester Tigers back Sam Aspland-Robinson joins Rosslyn Park

Sam Aspland-Robinson has secured a new club after being released by Leicester Tigers.

The Gallagher Premiership champions revealed earlier this month the players that will be moving on this summer, with George Ford (Sale Sharks), Ellis Genge (Bristol Bears) and Matías Moroni (Newcastle Falcons) among the headline names. Also heading out the exit door was Juan Pablo Socino, Marco van Staden, Jaco Taute and Aspland-Robinson.

Taute subsequently announced his retirement on social media while van Staden has returned to South Africa to continue his rehabilitation from a head injury suffered in December.

Winger Aspland-Robinson, 25, played his last game for Leicester Tigers way back in November 2019 against Pau when he suffered an early injury. He has spent the last two seasons on loan at Coventry Rugby.

He will be playing in the third tier of English rugby during the 2022/23 season after being announced as one of Rosslyn Park's four new signings. It will be familiar territory for Aspland-Robinson having spent time on loan at The Rock in the 2016/17 season.

“I’m very excited to be back playing at Rosslyn Park after six years away," he told the club's website. I’m looking forward to an enjoyable season on and off the pitch.”

Rosslyn Park, who finished third in National League One last season, have also signed former Harlequins pair Charlie Walker and Luc Jones as well as Queensland-born centre Matt Gordon.

Another player who has spent plenty of time out on loan away from Leicester Tigers is fellow winger, Jordan Olowofela. The 24-year-old last played for Tigers in August 2020 and has since spent time at Western Force in Australia and at Dragons in Wales.
